Golfito is a peaceful and tropical paradise located on the south pacific of Costa Rica, surrounded by the tall evergreen and leafy rainforest and the calm waters of the Golfo Dulce Bay.
On the past the main economic activity of Golfito was the importation of bananas with The United Fruit Company but after the company leaved the town The duty free zone “Deposito Libre de Golfito” helped the town to subsist, the duty free is still working nowadays but this amazing tropical dream is starting to be known around the world as a dream vacation destination.

It’s also home of more than 146 species of birds so you can expect to see scarlet macaws, brown pelicans, Riverside Wren, Yellow-billed Cotinga, Orange-collared Manakin, Golden-naped Woodpecker, and Baird’s Trogon, ibis herons, parrots, and owls.

The Golfo Dulce bay is one of only four tropical fiords in the world, has 5% of the mangroves in Costa Rica and many different maritime species, at least 3 species of cetaceous are seen in its waters such as the bottlenose dolphin, the spotted dolphin and the humpback whale.
